Finca Monteveiga

Essence of the Ribera del Ulla.

Buy

In the northernmost inner subregion of Rías Baixas is where our profound and enigmatic Albariño is produced, a gem born from our unique Monteveiga estate. A different Albariño, with a special and seductive charm, it is a captivating and complementary version of the queen variety from Rías Baixas.

Vineyard

In contrast to that of the Salnés valley, the microclimate of Monteveiga is characterised by greater thermal variation between day and night. This gives the wine an interesting continental nuance. The soil is dominated by schist, which balances the volume of acidity.

Production

Finca Monteveiga’s extremely meticulous winemaking process begins in the vineyard, where the clusters are selected and gathered by hand into flat crates. They are then transported by refrigerated lorry to the winery, where they are put through the closed press to obtain the flower must, which is macerated in a Ganimede tank with its lees for 5 days at 4 degrees, without the addition of sulphites, and protected by CO2. The aim is to extract the freshest, most intense and finest aromas. We then carry out work on the lees for two years, using gentle bâtonnage. The wine rests in the bottle for another year.
