There are places that are discovered with the gaze. Others, over time. And some, like the Atlantic, are better understood when we pause to listen.
At Mar de Frades, we have always felt that the ocean is part of our identity. It is present in our vineyards, in the character of our wines, and in the way we experience the Rías Baixas. But it is also present in something less visible: in the sounds that accompany life by the sea. And summer is perhaps the best time to discover them.

When the days grow longer and the rhythm changes, the Atlantic seems to find new ways of expressing itself. It is in the constant murmur of the waves reaching the shore. In the wind that moves along the coast and through the pine forests. In the seagulls gliding across the horizon, and in the activity of the harbors that, for generations, have been part of life in the Rías Baixas. These are everyday sounds, yet deeply rooted in a specific place. A soundtrack that speaks of the sea, of nature, and of a way of life connected to its surroundings. Because the Atlantic is not just a landscape. It is a constant presence.

We find it in the paths that trace the coastline, in the hidden beaches that appear around a bend, in the breeze that accompanies a summer afternoon, and in those moments when we simply let time pass unhurried. It is also present in the experiences we share around the table. The sound of conversation stretching as evening falls. The coming and going of dishes that celebrate the richness of Galician gastronomy. The shared laughter among friends. Small moments that shape our way of understanding summer, and that find in the Atlantic their natural stage.

At Mar de Frades, we believe the best moments rarely require big plans. They often begin with a long lunch by the sea, an impromptu escape along the coast, or an afternoon when we choose to slow down and simply enjoy what surrounds us. That is why, when we speak of the Atlantic, we are also speaking of a way of life. A way of life that values authenticity, connection to one’s environment, and the pleasure of sharing. One that finds beauty in detail and understands that true luxury lies in having the time to enjoy life without rush.

This summer, we invite you to do something very simple.
Pause for a moment.
Listen to the sound of the sea. The wind. The seagulls. The life unfolding around the ocean.
Because sometimes, the Atlantic has a lot to say. You just have to know how to listen.
